HDTV is going to be interesting…

by on Aug.05, 2004, under General

Toms Hardware Guide has an interesting article on HDTV. I read through the article, but wanted to point out one VERY specific thing which bothers me – the fact that you won’t be able to record a show unless the movie industry is willing to let you. What this means is no more using your VCR’s to record shows. Further, there’s no replacement for a VCR as what you can and can’t record is dependent on the people producing the shows. THIS BOTHERS ME GREATLY. What happened to being able to record a movie and watch it later? HMMMM???? This is why the whole entertainment industry drives me insane. And it’s why if I do get such a system, and I can’t record to say a DVD or computer or some other archival system, I’ll definitely work with others on a class action lawsuit against the entertainment industry. Because this isn’t right.

Anyways, check out the article. Then, please post some of the information – not many people are aware of these issues with HDTV, and we’re all going to have to move to it soon. Write to your representatives, ask them to work on this. Because anytime anyone takes away our rights, it’s one step closer to giving up everything.

so, you buy something now, and pray that the tuner cards are not changed after 2005….or you get someone to hack the system, or hack a card (which I don’t think will take to long)…
