NetNewsWire, MarsEdit and Ranchero Software

by on Jun.02, 2005, under General

I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned this application before, but it definitely deserves a post of it’s own. The application in question (well, not so much question as in mention) is NetNewsWire.

NetNewsWire is an RSS Aggregator, which I’ve discussed before here and here (you can do a search for rss on below to see more posts). RSS makes life a LOT easier for checking and keeping up to date on a lot of information. I’ve gotten to a point where I can’t imagine NOT having it. It’s probably got the cleanest interface I’ve seen, allows searching, and for the price is a phenomenal deal.

Another application which I need to mention is also produced by Ranchero software. This one is called MarsEdit. I’ve just now started playing with it, but it looks like it will make updating my blog far easier, as I don’t need to go through the web interface to do posts, add information, etc. Further, it then lets you do things like spell check your posts (always a handy feature), save them locally as drafts, and an even more fun aspect – it let’s me manage uploading and handling pictures on my blog. That’s probably going to be the biggest advantage of this system.

Each application individual sells for $24.95. You can buy them both for $39.95 and save $10. Or, if you go in with a friend or two, you can get both for $29.95. Frankly, that’s a heck of a deal – so stop on over at their store and pick up a copy. I’m looking at doing the same here in just a bit.

Oh, yeah, and one other thing. It’s Mac only. Go figure, right? Me impressed with the quality of software available on a Mac?? wink
